Yoyogi Park is one of the largest and most beloved urban parks located in the heart of Tokyo's Shibuya and Harajuku districts. Surrounded by lush greenery, this place serves as a vital "oasis" where visitors can escape the constant noise and energy of the metropolis. The vast grounds feature expansive lawns and wooded areas, providing the perfect environment for strolling, picnicking, or simply relaxing. Whether it is the cherry blossoms of spring or the vibrant autumn colors, the park offers a beautiful way to experience the changing seasons of Japan.
While maintaining its vast natural environment, Yoyogi Park plays a crucial role in supporting Tokyo's urban culture. The area is a symbol of modern, multicultural Tokyo, where one can observe the coexistence of nature and diverse cultural influences. The southern event plaza, in particular, serves as a dynamic stage for various performances and festivals throughout the year, acting as a hub for broadcasting Japanese culture and the latest trends to the world.

The charms of Yoyogi Park are incredibly diverse. The expansive lawn areas are a favorite spot for families and groups of friends to gather for picnics. The park also offers a scenic backdrop for cultural appreciation, with seasonal plant life providing a constantly changing landscape. In spring, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and in autumn, the park is transformed by a beautiful tunnel of colorful foliage. Additionally, the southern event area is always buzzing with energy due to the seasonal festivals and events held there.
Yoyogi Park offers a different face depending on the season. Spring (March–April) is the peak season for cherry blossoms, offering breathtaking views. Summer provides a refreshing canopy of green shade to help escape the city heat. Autumn (October–November) brings a stunning display of red and golden foliage. For the best experience, we recommend a morning stroll to enjoy the crisp air, or a relaxing afternoon picnic under the gentle sunlight. Some areas may also offer beautiful scenery when illuminated at night.

You can enjoy a wide range of activities while feeling close to nature. Beyond walking through the vast grounds, you can spend a peaceful time on the grass. The park is also a center for cultural expression, with various music and cultural festivals held regularly. Being able to touch nature while staying in the middle of a global city like Tokyo is a precious and refreshing experience for every visitor.
The park is ideally located near some of Tokyo's most iconic districts. Harajuku and Shibuya—the epicenters of fashion and youth culture—are just a short walk away, making it easy to visit the park during a sightseeing trip. Nearby, you can also visit the National Stadium or the Meiji Jingu Gaien area for sports or historical sightseeing. With many cafes and shops in the vicinity, a perfect itinerary involves a relaxing afternoon in the park followed by exploring the vibrant streets of the neighborhood.

To enjoy Yoyogi Park comfortably, we recommend wearing comfortable, walking-friendly shoes like sneakers, as the grounds are quite vast. If you plan to picnic, bringing a leisure sheet (picnic mat) and snacks/drinks will enhance your experience. As this is a public space, please follow basic etiquette: take your trash home with you and be mindful of noise levels. Note regarding parking: if you use a parking facility, please be aware that high-denomination bills (such as 10,000 or 5,000 yen notes) may not be accepted; it is best to prepare coins, credit cards, or electronic money.
