Train Park Hakusan (officially the Hakusan City High-Speed Railway Visitor Center) is an interactive facility located in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, right next to the 'Hakusan General Rolling Stock Depot' used by the Hokuriku Shinkansen. The facility features exhibits on the history and technology of the Shinkansen, driving simulators, and an observation deck that allows you to see the bullet trains up close. It is designed to be enjoyed by a wide range of visitors, from young children to adults and dedicated rail enthusiasts.
Hakusan City has a long-standing connection to the railway, serving as a hub for railway-related facilities such as the JR West Hakusan General Rolling Stock Depot and the Hokura Railway Ishikawa Line vehicle factory. To preserve and pass down the local railway technology and contribute to regional tourism, this facility was established as a place where visitors can experience the excitement of the Shinkansen firsthand.
The facility is divided into several specialized areas based on the type of experience offered:
This area features actual components used in the Hokuriku Shinkansen, such as bogies and pantographs. It also houses driving simulators that utilize parts from actual train cockpits for a realistic experience.
Equipped with large indoor play structures, this area allows children to stay active and enjoy physical play in a safe environment.
Through large windows, you can observe the maintenance and inspection processes occurring within the Hakusan General Rolling Stock Depot. The connecting walkway provides a unique view of the professional railway maintenance site.
This is the premier spot to watch the Shinkansen pass by on the main line. The facility displays the scheduled passing times, allowing you to witness the incredible sight of the train speeding past at over 200 km/h.
Since much of the facility consists of indoor exhibits and observation areas, it is a great option regardless of the weather. On clear days, the rooftop observation deck may even offer views of the distant Hakusan Mountain Range. To see the most dynamic action, plan your visit according to the posted Shinkansen passing schedule.
Beyond the technical exhibits, visitors can enjoy the driving simulators, which come in 'Large' and 'Small' types to offer different levels of operational feel. The facility is packed with content that makes learning about railway engineering fun and engaging.
The 'Tourism Information & Souvenir Area' on the 1st floor provides information on local sightseeing in Hakusan City and neighboring Nomi, Noyori, and Kawakita. You can also purchase local specialties and original Train Park Hakusan merchandise to commemorate your trip.
Some areas of the facility require specific tickets. While there are no strict dress codes, comfortable walking shoes are recommended for moving between floors.
