Sesoko Island possesses a deep history dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom era. Historically, the island was also known as "Shishi Island" or "Suko Island." The area holds significant historical value, with the presence of prehistoric shell mounds and the ruins of Sesoko Castle (Sesoko Gusuku) from the Gu-scuku period. The island features a central village where traditional lifestyles are still visible alongside surrounding agricultural lands. Additionally, the island is a site for scientific research, housing a facility for the University of the Ryukyus Tropical Biosphere Research Center, highlighting its ecological importance.

The swimming season typically runs from March 7th to November 30th. Standard swimming hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During the summer months (April to September), the sunlight is intense; visiting during midday allows you to experience the peak transparency of the water and the vividness of the blue sky.
