PLAY! is a multi-purpose cultural complex that opened in June 2020 within the new urban district 'GREEN con SPRINGS' in Tachikawa, Tokyo. Centered around the theme of 'Pictures and Words,' the facility consists of two main areas: 'PLAY! MUSEUM,' an art museum, and 'PLAY! PARK,' an indoor playground designed for children. The space, designed by Tezuka Architectural Design, offers a diverse range of exhibitions and programs focused on art and play.
The facility was born alongside the development of GREEN con SPRINGS, a new urban area in Tachikawa. It aims to be more than just a museum or a playground; it is a space that integrates art, language, and play in a way that is both unique and innovative. The museum hosts exhibitions related to picture books, manga, and professional art, while the park hosts workshops involving tactile materials and music, creating a multi-layered cultural experience.

The facility is divided into two distinct areas: 'MUSEUM' and 'PARK.'
This area hosts exhibitions themed around picture books, manga, and fine art. Visitors can experience visual expressions ranging from illustrator showcases to specific themed exhibitions. Please note that exhibition content changes periodically.
A vast indoor playground of approximately 1,000m². It features large-scale play equipment such as the 'Plate' structure, the soft-textured 'Tulle Cloud,' and the 'Balloon Monster.' The design encourages children to discover their own ways of playing, providing a perfect environment that is unaffected by weather conditions.
While the facility operates year-round, it offers different charms depending on the season. During summer vacations (e.g., late July to late August), specific pricing or special events may apply. As the MUSEUM and PARK have different closing times, it is important to check the schedule in advance. Weekdays tend to be quieter, while weekends and holidays are typically lively with families.
In the MUSEUM, the focus is on engaging with art related to the exhibits. In the PARK, activities are more physical, involving workshops centered on shape and music, as well as playing with large-scale equipment. The facility also includes a shop and a cafe, allowing visitors to purchase original goods or take a break. The cafe is accessible to visitors even if they are not using the MUSEUM.
PLAY! is located in GREEN con SPRINGS, an area where urban convenience meets nature. The surrounding area features large parks and greenery, perfect for strolling and dining. It is approximately a 10-minute walk from Tachikawa Station, making it easy to spend an entire day exploring the nearby commercial facilities and restaurants.
Credit cards and transportation IC cards (like Suica/Pasmo) are accepted at the facility. Please verify specific amounts at the time of ticket purchase.
While some English signage and information may be available, please consult the local staff for detailed assistance.
It is highly recommended to book MUSEUM tickets online in advance, especially during weekends, holidays, or long vacation periods. Reservations for the PARK should also be checked via the official system.
Since the PARK involves physical activity and play, comfortable clothing is recommended. If visiting with infants under 1 year old, please bring proof of age (such as a maternity handbook or insurance card).
