Manahimeko Youth Travel Village is located in Nakajima, Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, and is a campsite blessed with a rich natural environment. Surrounded by deep forests and situated on the shores of a beautiful lake, it is the perfect destination for travelers seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. To accommodate various camping styles, we offer bungalows, auto-camping sites, tent sites, and vast free sites, making it suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced campers. While feeling the breath of nature, you can also enjoy viewing a sky full of stars at night.
This region preserves an ancient legend. It tells the story of "Manahime," who is said to have offered herself to the Dragon God to protect the village from a severe drought that once struck the area. Within the facility, a statue of Manahime—inspired by this legend—is installed, serving as a symbol that allows visitors to feel the historical and cultural background of the region. It is a place where you can touch upon the stories and the wishes of the people who have lived alongside nature for generations.
The greatest charm of this facility is its location. Being close to both a lake and a river, visitors can enjoy various waterfront activities. Another feature is the wide variety of camping sites available: comfortable bungalows, auto-sites where you can park right next to your tent, and expansive free sites to suit any need. The facility is also well-equipped with amenities such as cooking areas, BBQ sites, and flush toilets to support a comfortable outdoor life. At night, because there is very little light pollution, observing the incredibly beautiful starry sky is one of the most significant attractions.
The facility is open from mid-April to the end of November. Since the landscape changes with each season, we recommend visiting at different times of the year. From spring to summer, river activities and enjoying the cool breeze are highly recommended. In autumn, the surrounding trees turn vibrant colors, offering beautiful foliage views. We suggest active daytime activities under the natural sunlight, followed by relaxing by a campfire or stargazing at night. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out is at 11:00, allowing for a relaxed schedule.
During your stay, you can engage in various nature-based experiences. Whether it is dining at a well-maintained BBQ site or staying overnight in a tent, you will feel a deep sense of unity with nature. Since there is a river nearby, water-based activities are also possible. The facility offers rental items such as tarps and iron plates, making it suitable even for those arriving without much gear or those looking for a more authentic outdoor experience. Spending time in this natural setting is a precious way to relieve daily stress and refresh your body and soul.
The surrounding area is dotted with spots to fully enjoy nature. For hiking enthusiasts, the nearby mountains like Arashidake (also known as "Ono Fuji," 1,523m) and Ginza-mine offer beautiful climbs. Additionally, the area around the historic Echizen Ono Castle is a significant spot that represents this region. You can also find many opportunities to experience the local food and culture during your camping trip, allowing you to deeply understand the charms of Fukui through both its nature and history.
As this is a stay in a natural environment, proper preparation is essential. Please bring clothing that allows for layering to adapt to temperature changes; warm clothing is a must as it can get quite cold at night. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Regarding payment, as many transactions are handled in cash, we recommend bringing sufficient cash. For reservations, we recommend confirming in advance via telephone. Regarding etiquette, please be mindful of taking your trash home and protecting the natural environment.
