Kumano Taisha is a venerable shrine located in Miyauchi, Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture, boasting a history of approximately 1,200 years. Its prestige is so high that it is often referred to as the 'Ise of Tohoku,' making it one of the most significant historical sites in the region. More than just a tourist destination, this is a sacred place where the spirit of 'Musubi' (connection/binding) from Japanese mythology lives on. It is renowned as a sanctuary for matchmaking, rooted in the myth of the first divine couple, Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto.
