Designated as part of the Chubu Sangoshi National Park in 1934, the region is protected as a site of immense natural value and cultural heritage.
Kamikochi offers numerous spots to enjoy nature's artistry. The view from Kappa Bridge, overlooking the flowing Azusa River, is a must-see. Taisho Pond, formed by the eruption of Mt. Yakedake in 1915, provides a mystical atmosphere where the mountains reflect perfectly on the water's surface. Due to the high altitude, weather in Kamikochi can be unpredictable and temperatures can drop significantly. Please prepare appropriate layers, sturdy walking shoes, and rain gear. To protect the fragile ecosystem, always carry your trash back with you and do not pick any plants. As there have been sightings of black bears in the area, please remain aware of your surroundings and maintain a respectful distance from nature.
