Chichibu Muse Park is a vast comprehensive park covering approximately 375 hectares, spanning across Chichibu City and Ogano Town in Saitama Prefecture. Developed through the cooperation of Saitama Prefecture, Chichibu City, and the Seibu Group under the Resort Law, the park is divided into three main areas: the 'Sports Forest Zone,' the 'Music Forest Zone,' and the 'Culture Forest Zone.' These areas are seamlessly connected by the 'Sky Road,' a scenic 3km path. The park is dotted with various facilities including music halls, outdoor stages, the Muse Spring, large gardens, sports facilities, cafes, and outdoor adventure sites, making it a versatile destination for all types of visitors.
This facility was established as a resort destination through the collaboration of Saitama Prefecture, Chichiub City, and the Seibu Group, following the Comprehensive Resort Area Development Law. Since its opening in 1991, it has served as a vital hub for regional recreation and cultural activities. The park was designed to harmonize with the natural environment, providing a space where visitors can experience music, sports, and cultural activities in a way that respects and celebrates the local landscape. It functions not just as a park, but as a community-building center for both local residents and tourists.
There is a wide variety of spots to visit depending on your interests. In the Music Forest Zone, you can enjoy the unique atmosphere of the music hall and outdoor stages where sound and nature blend beautifully. The Muse Spring and the large gardens offer peaceful spots for relaxation. For thrill-seekers, 'Forest Adventure Chichibu' features one of Japan's largest zip-line courses with seven zip lines through the natural forest. Additionally, don't miss the cafe 'MAPLE BASE,' which serves delicious treats like pancakes made with authentic maple syrup sourced from local Chichibu maple trees.
The park offers different charms depending on the season. May, October, and November are particularly recommended as the weather is pleasant for exploring the different zones. The ginkgo tree avenues provide beautiful seasonal scenery, making it an ideal time for a stroll or a tea break at a cafe. During the daytime, the park is perfect for active pursuits like sports and forest adventures, while the evening hours offer a serene environment for quiet relaxation.
Visitors can enjoy everything from high-energy activities to peaceful relaxation. You can engage in physical exercise at the sports facilities, experience the adrenaline of the zip lines at the Forest Adventure, or enjoy a relaxing cafe time in the middle of nature. Other ways to enjoy the park include attending musical events at the music hall or outdoor stages, or simply wandering through the vast landscape via the Sky Road.
The surrounding area is rich in historical and cultural landmarks. Nearby, you can visit the Chichibu Shrine, which retains architectural styles from the early Edo period, or 'Hot Spot Chichibu,' a charming building renovated from an early Meiji-era merchant inn. You can also experience the local culture of Chichibu at 'Yao Honten Sake Brewery Forest,' where you can sample local sake and purchase regional specialties. These spots are perfect to visit alongside your time at the park.
As the park is very large, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. While many cafes and facilities accept credit cards and transportation IC cards, please carry cash for smaller shops or local bus services. If you plan to use the Forest Adventure, please check the official website in advance for availability and age requirements (minimum 4th grade of elementary school). Photography is generally allowed, though restrictions may apply during specific events. For accessibility, the Sky Road and other routes are well-maintained, but please check individual facilities for any steps or obstacles.
