The Azuchi Castle Ruins mark the site of the magnificent fortress completed in 1576 by Oda Nobunaga, one of the most powerful figures of Japan's Sengoku (Warring States) period. This site is far more than just a ruin; it is a historical landmark symbolizing the dawn of the Azuchi-Momoyama era. The original castle featured a central tower (Tenshu) of unparalleled splendor, adorned with gold-leaf tiles and exquisite wall paintings. Although the original structure was lost to fire, the remaining massive stone walls and foundations are designated as a Special Historic Site of Japan, preserving the immense historical value of the site.

The Azuchi Castle Ruins offer different charms depending on the season.
