One of the 'Three Great Ara-mikoshi of Japan,' this is a grand festival that stirs the soul of Shiogama. Originally started to pray for fire prevention and local economic recovery, the sight of the wild yet sacred portable shrines parading through the streets is breathtaking. Starting from the shrine on the morning of March 10th, the procession is filled with overwhelming energy that lasts until nightfall.
