Yuzawa Kogen Alps no Sato is a premier mountain resort located within the beautiful natural environment of Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture. By taking the ropeway to the summit, you can step into a world above the clouds, far removed from the stresses of daily life. The facility features an alpine plant garden that displays a different face every season. Located within walking distance from the Panorama Station, the garden allows you to observe unique high-altitude plant life up close. For dining, restaurants such as the 'Cloud Above Cafe' and 'Edelweiss' allow you to enjoy local ingredients while gazing at the surrounding mountain vistas. For those seeking excitement, the resort offers various attractions like the Zipline Adventure, Summer Bobsleigh, and Mountain Go-Karts to enjoy the natural terrain.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (late May to November) when the alpine plants and greenery are at their most beautiful. The colors are particularly vivid from late May through June. The ropeway typically operates from 8:40 AM to 4:40 PM; we recommend visiting in the morning to enjoy the crisp, clear mountain air. Please note that the facility undergoes maintenance-related closures from late November to April, so it is important to check the operating status before your trip.
Beyond simple strolls, you can enjoy highly active experiences here. The Zipline Adventure offers a sensation of flying through the air (advance reservations are recommended during peak seasons). The Summer Bobsleigh 706 and Mountain Go-Karts are also highly popular, offering a sense of speed that utilizes the natural mountain slopes. These activities are perfect for families and groups of friends looking for adventure.
Access to the facility is excellent, located just an 8-minute walk from JR Echigo-Yuzawa Station. The surrounding area features shops selling Niigata's famous sweets and local sake, making souvenir shopping a delight. Near the base ropeway station, you can also find sections dedicated to outdoor gear to help prepare for your mountain adventures.
Because the summit is at a high altitude, temperatures are often significantly lower than at the base. Please prepare appropriate clothing (such as a light jacket even in summer). Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for navigating the terrain. Regarding payment, major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) and electronic money (QUICPay, etc.) are accepted, but carrying some cash is recommended for certain facilities or ticket machines. Please note that private vehicles are not allowed to drive up to the higher areas; you must park your car at the base station and use the ropeway to reach the summit.
