INFO
While the Goshikinuma Nature Trail welcomes pets, please be aware that they may inadvertently provoke wild animals such as bears and monkeys. This could also lead to conflicts with other visitors. Therefore, please keep your pet on a leash at all times and always clean up after them. Please note that the trail may be closed during winter due to snow accumulation.
Goshikinuma is a collection of over 30 lakes and ponds of varying sizes, formed by the 1888 eruption of Mount Bandai. Volcanic materials and aquatic plants influence the color of each pond, resulting in a diverse array of greens, reds, and blues—hence the name "Goshikinuma" (Five Color Ponds).
The trail from the Urabandai Kogen Station entrance is relatively flat and easy to walk, stretching approximately 4km and taking about 1.5 hours. Enjoy the varied scenery, including the cobalt blue Ruri-numa pond, the Bishamondo-numa pond offering stunning views of Mount Bandai, and the Benten-numa pond with its beautiful patterns created by underwater plants.
The beauty of Goshikinuma changes with the season, time of day, and weather. Spring showcases vibrant greenery, autumn boasts breathtaking autumn foliage, and winter offers a magical snowscape.
When visiting Goshikinuma, we recommend allowing ample time for a leisurely stroll. Comfortable shoes, water, and light snacks are also advisable.
