Naramata Dam is a rockfill dam built on the Naramata River in the Tone River system, located in Minakami-machi, Tone-gun, Gunma Prefecture. Completed in 1990, it plays a vital role in flood control for the Tone River, supplying water to the metropolitan area, and generating electricity. Standing at 158 meters tall, it's the highest dam in the Tone River system. Naramata Lake, the reservoir created by the dam, boasts a stunning landscape surrounded by mountains. From the top of the dam, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view. On the left bank of the dam, you'll find the "Hilltop Naramata" dam museum, where you can learn about the dam's history and structure. The museum offers detailed explanations of the dam's construction and its role. Well-maintained walking paths around the lake allow for peaceful nature walks. Enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn foliage. Dam cards are also available, making it a worthwhile visit for dam enthusiasts and casual visitors alike!
