Nestled in the northwestern part of Gunma Prefecture, Nakanojo Gardens boasts a vast 12-hectare site, equivalent to about six Tokyo Domes. Reopened in April 2021 after being revitalized from 'Hananoeki Minohara,' it serves as a place for creating new culture rooted in the local nature, based on the theme of coexistence with nature.
The gardens are composed of seven unique areas: the Rose Garden, Knot Garden, Great Wisteria Trellis, Hometown Mountain Fields, Townspeople's Flower Beds, Spiral Garden, Flowering Peach Hill, and Natural Garden, alongside a 'Farm Area' where gardeners are active and children can play. The Rose Garden, meticulously designed by Mr. Shinji Kawai, who has received numerous awards both in Japan and internationally, reaches its peak in June and October. The breathtaking display of approximately 400 varieties and 1,000 rose bushes in full bloom is truly a sight to behold. Their rich fragrance and vibrant colors enchant visitors, transporting them to an extraordinary world. Furthermore, the landscapes crafted by renowned garden designers, such as the Spiral Garden and Natural Garden by British horticulture researcher Ms. Keiko Yoshitani, are like living paintings.
Within the grounds, you'll find 'Minohara Shokudo,' a dining hall serving dishes made with local ingredients, the 'Rose Cafe,' where you can relax while gazing at the rose garden, and 'Yama no Hanaya,' a shop offering local flower seedlings. There's something to enjoy all day long without getting bored. At Nakanojo Gardens, which cherishes the beauty of coexisting plant life, we invite you to experience seasonal wonders and find profound healing for your soul.
