Overview

The Hirabayashi Rice Terraces in Hirabayashi, Fujikawa-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture, offer spectacular views of Mount Fuji. Located in the southwestern corner of the Kofu Basin, they extend across the mid-slope of Mount Kushigata, a mountain range at the foot of the Southern Alps. The terraces' most striking feature is their breathtaking scenery. Mount Fuji is visible directly to the east, and the reflection of the mountain in the water—known as 'sakasa Fuji' (reverse Fuji)—is particularly stunning in spring. Relatively small-scale terrace clusters are spread across four districts among eleven villages, all offering magnificent views of Mount Fuji.
