Kitaigokawa Rice Terraces are located in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, and are designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Rice Terraces.
Situated at the foot of Mount Awagatake, one of Japan's 300 famous mountains, the terraces offer a breathtaking view against the backdrop of majestic mountains.
Comprising approximately 280 terraces covering 9.5 hectares, they range in altitude from 100 to 150 meters, with a gentle 1:20 slope.
The water source for the terraces, "Okubo no Shimizu," is designated as one of Niigata Prefecture's famous waters, providing the clear, pristine water that nourishes the rice paddies.
