Overview

Tachibana Jinja Shrine is dedicated to Lieutenant Colonel Shuuta Tachibana of the Imperial Japanese Army, who served in the Russo-Japanese War and achieved numerous accomplishments. Lieutenant Colonel Tachibana was a military officer who flourished during the Meiji era, serving as the military officer of the Imperial Prince's household (the tutor of Emperor Taisho) and the headmaster of the Nagoya Army Preparatory School, among other positions. He was known throughout Japan for his accomplishments, his kind personality, and his strong personal relationships, and is still respected by many people today. A portion of Lieutenant Colonel Tachibana's former home has been relocated to the shrine grounds, offering a glimpse into his life at the time. The house, a single-story wooden structure, preserves his childhood bedroom and study, among other rooms, in their original state. You can imagine what his life was like back then and feel the weight of history. In spring, the shrine path bursts into bloom with magnificent cherry blossoms, creating a truly stunning scene! Approximately 100 cherry trees line the path, forming a spectacular cherry blossom tunnel. Many people visit during the cherry blossom season to enjoy the beautiful flowers and the feeling of spring.
