Overview

Kikuchi Park, located in Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, is a vast park where history and nature harmoniously coexist. The sight of approximately 3,000 cherry blossoms in full bloom during spring is truly awe-inspiring, making it one of Kumamoto Prefecture's most popular cherry blossom viewing spots. Historical structures such as the ruins of Kikuchi Castle and Kikuchi Shrine are scattered throughout the park, offering a unique blend of history and nature. Kikuchi Castle ruins were once the stronghold of the Kikuchi clan. Remnants of stone walls and earthworks remain, allowing visitors to imagine the castle's past glory. Kikuchi Shrine is dedicated to the ancestral deity of the Kikuchi clan. Centuries-old giant trees stand within the sacred grounds, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.
