Located in Furudono-machi, Ishikawa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture, the Koshada cherry tree is a majestic Yamazakura, approximately 400 years old and recognized as one of the Forestry Agency's "100 Giant Trees of the Forest". Known for its late blooming season in the prefecture, it typically reaches its peak bloom from late April to early May. True to its selection as one of the "100 Giant Trees of the Forest," its presence is truly awe-inspiring. Standing approximately 20 meters tall with a trunk circumference exceeding 5 meters, the giant tree bursts into bloom, creating a canopy of stunning blossoms. A well-maintained walking path allows visitors to approach the tree closely, experiencing its overwhelming presence and the beauty of its flowers up close. An annual "Koshada Sakura Festival" is held during the cherry blossom season. The festival features performances by the Oshu Furudono Yabusame Taiko drummers, stage events, and numerous food stalls, creating a lively atmosphere.
