Muroto Cape Lighthouse, located in Muroto City, Kochi Prefecture, offers a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. It's also selected as one of Japan's 50 best lighthouses and attracts many visitors from both Japan and abroad. The highlight is its enormous Fresnel lens. This lens, utilizing the refraction of light to extend its reach, is one of only five such lenses in Japan. Inside the lighthouse, an exhibition hall showcases this lens and explains the mechanics of the lighthouse, offering insights into its history and function. The Pacific Ocean view from the lighthouse is simply spectacular. The expansive vista stretching to the horizon will leave you feeling refreshed. On clear days, you can even see distant islands and appreciate the stunning contrast between the blue sky and sea. Walking paths and observation decks around the lighthouse offer further opportunities for enjoyment.
