Public transportation: Take the Tankai bus bound for “Maji・Kyogamisaki” from Kyoto Tango Railway Amanohashidate Station and get off at the final stop. It's then a 30-minute walk. During public opening periods, local “Sasaeai Kotsu” (mutual assistance transportation) also offers transport support.
From the Kyogamisaki Park parking lot, it's a 15-minute walk (approximately 400 meters) up a staircase-like mountain path. The parking lot may have rest areas and shops set up during events.
A well-maintained walkway also runs along the cape from near the former Kyogamisaki Rest House along National Route 178. Show route
The Kyogamisaki Lighthouse, completed in 1896 (Meiji 29), is a historic lighthouse standing on dramatic cliffs jutting out into the Sea of Japan. Selected as one of Japan's Top 50 Lighthouses, it's a popular sightseeing spot known for its beautiful scenery and rich history. While the climb up the staircase-like mountain path to the lighthouse is a bit challenging, the view from the summit is truly rewarding. A magnificent panorama of the Sea of Japan unfolds, offering far-reaching views on clear days.
Well-maintained walking paths around the lighthouse lead to other attractions such as Kyogamisaki Cape and Ana-Monju. Kyogamisaki Cape features characteristic columnar basalt formations along its coastline, showcasing the power of nature. Ana-Monju is a sacred site known as a power spot, with a sea cave enshrining the Buddhist deity Monju Bosatsu.
Kyogamisaki Lighthouse is a captivating blend of history and nature. We highly recommend a visit.
