Omaezaki Lighthouse is a sightseeing spot in Omaezaki City, Shizuoka Prefecture, located at the southernmost tip, where history and stunning views blend seamlessly. This area was once known as the Enshunada, a perilous sea area with violent waves. Many ships were wrecked, threatening the lives of the people. Therefore, Omaezaki Lighthouse was built in 1874 to prevent maritime accidents. Designed by a British engineer, the lighthouse utilizes the latest technology of its time. The brick tower stands majestically in white, easily visible from afar. Inside, an 83-step spiral staircase leads to a breathtaking 360-degree view. You can witness sunsets over the horizon and, on clear days, even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji. A well-maintained boardwalk surrounds the lighthouse, allowing you to enjoy a stroll while taking in the magnificent Pacific Ocean.
