Echigo-Tsumari is a region spanning Tokamachi and Tsunan towns in Niigata Prefecture, brimming with rich natural beauty and historical culture. Contemporary artworks are scattered throughout the expansive rice paddies, mountains, and villages, creating a breathtaking fusion of nature and art. The "Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale," held every three years since 2000, is an international art festival where artists from Japan and abroad create and exhibit contemporary art against the backdrop of the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage. During the festival, local residents and artists collaborate to host various events and workshops. It's an opportunity to not only appreciate the artwork but also to engage with the local community.
