Located at an elevation of approximately 800 meters in the foothills of the Yatsugatake Mountains, the Nakamura Keith Haring Museum, opened in 2007, is the world's only museum specializing in the works of Keith Haring. It houses approximately 200 pieces collected over 30 years by businessman Kazuo Nakamura, who was captivated by Haring's art.
The museum collaborates with the Keith Haring Foundation in New York, not only exhibiting works but also hosting exhibitions and events that offer a deeper understanding of Haring's art. The museum is surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Yatsugatake Mountains, allowing visitors to enjoy nature after their visit.
Keith Haring, born in America in 1958, was a pop artist who gained worldwide fame in the 1980s for his unique style of art created on New York City subways and street walls. His works are simple yet powerful, full of humor and impactful messages.
The Nakamura Keith Haring Museum offers a precious opportunity to experience the art of Keith Haring within the majestic natural setting of the Yatsugatake Mountains.
