Nihonmatsu Observatory, situated on a hill along the Kushiro River, provides stunning 360-degree panoramic views of the Kushiro Marsh. With minimal obstruction, you can enjoy breathtaking views of both the marsh and the Kushiro River. Kushiro Marsh, Japan's largest marshland, was once an ocean approximately 60 million years ago. Nihonmatsu Observatory may be hard to find due to a lack of signage, but follow a small path up a gentle slope from the roadside to reach the observation point. While relatively unknown, this hidden gem offers incredible panoramic views due to the minimal tree cover. You'll witness the vast expanse of Kushiro Marsh and the meandering Kushiro River cutting through it.
