Kushiro City Wetland Observatory

Overview

The Kushiro City Wetland Observatory is located at the western edge of the Kushiro Marsh National Park. Its unique appearance, modeled after "Yachibozu" (a type of vegetation found in the wetland), is a distinctive feature, making it noticeable from afar. From the observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Kushiro Wetland. The sprawling green carpet of the wetland is truly breathtaking. On a clear day, you can also see the majestic Akan mountains in the distance, a truly awe-inspiring sight. You can also take a stroll along the boardwalk adjacent to the observatory. The boardwalk winds through the wetland, allowing you to observe the wetland's plants and birds up close. A satellite observation deck is also located midway along the boardwalk, offering another stunning view of the wetland. Inside the observatory, you'll find exhibits on the formation of the wetland, its flora and fauna, and other informative displays. A souvenir shop and restaurant are also available, allowing you to relax and spend some time at your leisure.
