Sogen-ji Temple is a Soto Zen Buddhist temple located in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture. It was founded to commemorate the death of Shōjuhime, the daughter of Nitta Yoshiie. Established in 1187 (Bunji 3), Sogen-ji boasts a long history and tradition. The main hall, built around 1793 (Kansei 5), is known as the Sazaedou (spiral hall) due to its unique spiral structure. Recognized as one of Japan's three great Sazaedou, alongside the Aizu Sazaedou and Hyakutai Kannon-do, its distinctive architecture captivates visitors.
