Otsuka-Saikachido Ruins Park is a historical park in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama, preserving ruins from the mid-Yayoi period. Discovered in 1972 during the development of Kohoku New Town, this site is notable for the intact preservation of the settlement and burial grounds, representing a rare example of a fully excavated large-scale Yayoi village. A portion of the excavated ruins has been restored within the park, recreating pit dwellings, raised-floor storehouses, and square ditch tombs to reflect their original appearance. You can glimpse the lives and culture of the time, with a display of unearthed pottery and stone tools. The park also includes the Tsuzuki Minkeien, a cultural experience facility with traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, offering a glimpse into past rural life. Tsuzuki Minkeien hosts seasonal events and workshops. Otsuka-Saikachido Ruins Park is a beloved spot for experiencing history and nature. The Yokohama City History Museum is also located nearby, making it a convenient combination for sightseeing. Consider spending some time immersed in the lives of people approximately 2,000 years ago, connecting with history and nature.
