Kaga Higashitani is an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings located in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The main houses (shuya) in Kaga Higashitani feature a two-story gable roof with reddish-brown clay tiles and a chimney. The exterior walls are clad in cedar shiplap. The interior employs a unique Kaga-style layout known as "Kaga Type 1," with a sequence of entrance, earth floor (doma), living room, and finally a row of tatami rooms, storehouses, and a Buddhist altar. The pillars are painted with bengara (red ochre), and lacquer is used in the living room, demonstrating meticulous craftsmanship.
