Rokko-saki Lighthouse in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, offers a breathtaking spectacle where history and nature intertwine. Constructed in 1883 (Meiji 16), this white lighthouse has stood as a sentinel against the wild waves of the Sea of Japan, safeguarding mariners for generations. The stone structure, a testament to the engineering prowess of its time, exudes a sense of history and solidity. From the lighthouse, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic Sea of Japan, a sight that will surely wash away your worries. The vista of the boundless blue sea and sky is simply breathtaking. The surrounding area is part of the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park, a scenic region featuring stunning natural formations, including cliffs and wave-cut platforms. The "Senjo-jikku" (Thousand Mat Floor) wave-cut platform, in particular, is awe-inspiring in its scale, showcasing the raw power of nature. Well-maintained walking paths allow for pleasant strolls. Designated a "Koisuru Toudai" (Lovers' Lighthouse) in 2017, it also carries a romantic aura. The Noto Peninsula Earthquake in 2017 caused significant damage, including the collapse of the upper lens. However, thanks to the unwavering commitment of the local community to recovery, restoration work is ongoing. We hope it will once again become a beloved tourist destination.
