Known as a "Lovers' Sanctuary," Nakanojima Ohashi Bridge is Japan's tallest pedestrian bridge, stretching 236 meters and rising 27.125 meters. It connects Nakanojima, an island in Kisarazu Port, Chiba Prefecture, to Torii-saki Seaside Park. From the bridge, you can enjoy spectacular views of Tokyo Bay, Mount Fuji, and the Boso Peninsula in the distance. The sunset views, with the sky and sea painted in shades of orange, are particularly captivating, drawing many visitors.
The bridge also gained fame as a filming location for the popular Japanese drama *Kisarazu Cats Eye*. The scenes featuring the main characters crossing the bridge remain a memorable highlight for many viewers, making it a must-see for fans on a pilgrimage.
Surrounding Nakanojima Ohashi Bridge are clam digging spots, a seaside park, walking paths, and restaurants, making it a perfect family destination. Clam digging is popular from spring to summer, while the seaside park offers playgrounds, grassy areas, and barbecue facilities for a full day of fun.
Crossing the bridge to Nakanojima Park is also recommended. You'll find a monument to Kisarazu's mascot character, "Kisarazu Tanuki" (raccoon dog), a popular spot for commemorative photos.
