Shitake Garden

Overview

Shitake Garden is a sprawling 15,000-tsubo (approximately 49,600 square meters) garden located in Obihiro City, Hokkaido. Founder Shoyo Shitake, a passionate flower lover, opened this expansive space as a garden freely adorned with blossoms. The garden is divided into unique areas, including a 150-meter perennial border garden, a clematis path, a white garden featuring white flowers, a rock garden, a shade garden in the woods, a herb garden, and a meadow garden brimming with wildflowers. The breathtaking display of diverse flowers changes with the seasons. Spring showcases tulips and muscari, while early summer bursts with delphiniums, rudbeckias, and more vibrant blooms. Fields of red poppies, yellow Eschscholzia californica (California poppies), and pink Silene armeria (catchfly) create a Tokachi landscape. From the walking path winding through the woods, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Tokachi Plain, with the peaks of the Hidaka mountain range visible in the distance. The "Clematis Path," boasting over 200 varieties of clematis, feels like walking through a tunnel of flowers and greenery.
