Overview

Tataranuma Park is a vast prefectural park spanning Tatebayashi City and Oura-machi in Gunma Prefecture. Located in a low-lying wetland between the Tone and Watarase Rivers, it's part of a group of lakes. The approximately 98-hectare site includes Tataranuma Pond, Gab沼 (Gabanuma Pond), and Ukijima Benzaiten (floating island shrine), offering a rich natural environment. Spring brings vibrant cherry blossoms and wisteria, while autumn displays beautiful autumn leaves, making it a picturesque location year-round. The highlight, however, is the winter spectacle of swans migrating from Siberia, gracefully gliding across the water. These swans are primarily Whooper Swans, arriving annually from early November to mid-March. During their stay, many visitors come to photograph them and even offer food, but remember to maintain proper etiquette to protect these magnificent birds. Well-maintained walking paths allow you to enjoy the scenery and nature. From the paths, you can admire not only the beautiful views of Tataranuma Pond, but on clear days, even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji.
