Sekaitanchi Wildflower Garden is a wildflower garden spanning approximately 8 hectares of wetland in Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture. From late May to July, around 300 species of flowers bloom in a breathtaking display.
The dense cluster of Japanese azaleas (Renge-tsutsuji) is particularly renowned; the sight of their pink blossoms is simply stunning. Japanese azaleas are deciduous shrubs belonging to the Ericaceae family, found in central and northern Honshu, Japan. At Sekaitanchi, these azaleas spread across the wetland, creating a scene resembling a pink carpet.
The Japanese azaleas bloom from late May to early July. During this period, numerous tourists visit to admire their beauty.
Beyond the Japanese azaleas, Sekaitanchi offers a chance to enjoy various other flowers, including cotton grass (Watasuge) and bog orchids (Sagisou). Cotton grass is a perennial herb of the Cyperaceae family, characterized by its white, fluffy flowers. Bog orchids are perennial herbs of the Orchidaceae family, known for their flowers resembling a white egret in flight.
The wetland is also home to numerous creatures, including frogs and dragonflies. The calls of the frogs inhabiting the wetland are said to be particularly beautiful and soothing.

The walking paths are well-maintained, making it easy for anyone to enjoy a leisurely walk. Rest areas and restrooms are also available within the garden.
