Overview
The Kakuda Rape Blossom Festival is a spring festival held in Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture. During Golden Week, this major event showcases approximately 2.5 million rape blossoms in full bloom. The vast expanse of approximately 2.5 hectares along the Abukuma River, downstream of the Kakuda Bridge on the right bank, is transformed into a sea of yellow, resembling a giant yellow carpet. The sight of these vibrant yellow flowers announcing the arrival of spring will surely warm your heart and create a lasting memory.
The Zao mountain range, majestically rising behind the rape blossom field, is capped with snow, adding to the grandeur of the scene. The contrast between the yellow blossoms and the white snow against the blue sky creates a truly breathtaking view, making it a popular photography spot.
Near the rape blossom field, you'll find the Michinoeki Kakuda roadside station, offering local specialty products and agricultural produce. During the festival, the area comes alive with stage events and food stalls, adding to the festive atmosphere.
There are also events for children, such as pony rides, making it a fun and enjoyable experience for the whole family.
Please note that parking may be congested during the festival period. We recommend using public transportation or arriving with ample time.
