Overview

Aoya Uebayashi, located in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, is renowned as a breathtaking spring spot where approximately 1,000 plum trees burst into bloom. With a variety of plum blossoms blooming from early to late varieties, the best viewing period is from mid-February to late March. Well-maintained walking paths wind through the grove, allowing for leisurely appreciation of the plum blossoms. Cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops surround the grove, ensuring a full day of enjoyment. Aoya Uebayashi was once known as "Aoya no Sato," a village where numerous farmers resided. Plum trees were deeply intertwined with their lives, cultivated for making plum preserves and plum wine. The plum grove gradually expanded, becoming one of Kyoto's representative plum groves. In spring, the pink plum blossoms create a stunning contrast with the green leaves, forming a beautiful landscape. The sweet fragrance of the blossoms soothes the hearts of visitors.
