Overview

Shoyoen Garden is a vast Japanese garden spanning approximately 10,000 tsubo (approximately 33,000 square meters) located in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. Built in the late Edo period as a secondary residence for the Utsunomiya clan lord, the garden features beautiful landscaping that makes the most of natural scenery, including ponds, waterfalls, and bridges. Shoyoen is ablaze with flowers throughout the year, offering stunning views in spring with cherry blossoms, summer with hydrangeas, and autumn with autumn leaves. In the springtime, the garden is painted pink with cherry blossoms, creating a scene straight out of a painting. A wide variety of cherry blossoms, including Someiyoshino and weeping cherry trees, can be enjoyed. During the summer, vibrant hydrangeas bloom in abundance, creating a feast for the eyes.
