Yonoyama Observatory

Overview

Yonoyama Observatory is located in Wakasugi, Shinorisu-machi, Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, at an elevation of 594 meters. It offers an exceptional vantage point overlooking Hakata Bay and Tenjin, and is known throughout Fukuoka Prefecture as a top nighttime viewing spot, alongside Sarakurayama in Kitakyushu City. The panoramic night view stretches to Itoshima, sparkling below, while during the day, you can enjoy magnificent vistas reaching as far as Hakata Bay and Fukuoka Tower. It's also a popular hiking and walking spot, with the course from Wakasugi Rakuen to Yonoyama being especially popular with families. From the observation deck, you can see the bustling city of Fukuoka, the expanse of Hakata Bay, and the distant mountains. At night, the dazzling cityscape lights create a breathtaking view that captivates many visitors. The most convenient way to access the observatory is by car. It's about a 25-minute drive from JR Shinorisu Station and about a 35-minute drive from Fukuoka IC. There is parking for about 10 cars. The observatory is free to enter. However, there are no restrooms, so it's recommended to use the facilities beforehand. Yonoyama Observatory is a place to enjoy stunning views of Fukuoka City and its glittering night scenery.
