Akō Onsen Hot Spring is located in Misaki, Akō City, Hyōgo Prefecture. Situated on a hill overlooking the coast of the Harima-nada Sea, it offers an incredibly relaxing experience with stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea.
It first opened in 1970 as "Akō Misaki Onsen" and quickly became a popular destination, beloved for its scenic beauty. However, due to a decrease in water volume in December 2000, a new natural hot spring source was excavated 1600 meters underground, resulting in the hot spring we know today. The name was also changed to "Akō Onsen" at this time.
Akō Onsen is characterized by its smooth, neutral saline spring water rich in mineral content, including highly concentrated salt. The salt adheres to the skin, preventing sweat evaporation and providing excellent heat retention. Its high concentration of minerals means it retains its properties even when diluted 20 times.
It also boasts a wide range of therapeutic effects, with 24 for bathing and 8 for drinking, totaling 32 – truly embodying the three essential elements of a hot spring: temperature, components, and volume.
