Following this, it developed as a spa town and was even used as a royal family retreat during the Meiji period.
Nishiyama Onsen, once known as "Nishiyama Yuji-ba" (Nishiyama Spa Town), was bustling with spa-goers.
However, due to poor accessibility, it declined during the Showa period.
In recent years, it has once again attracted attention due to the hidden hot spring boom and the increasing number of people seeking out nature.
