Overview

Senami Onsen is a hot spring resort located on the Sea of Japan coast in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. It boasts a source temperature of approximately 100℃, earning it the reputation of a very hot spring. Its discovery in April 1904 (Meiji 37) was accidental, occurring during oil drilling. The subsequent opening of a railway line to Murakami Station spurred its development into a thriving hot spring town. The charm of Senami Onsen lies in its ability to let you enjoy the hot springs while watching the sunset over the Sea of Japan. In addition to over a dozen Ryokans (traditional Japanese inns) and hotels, there are day-trip bath facilities and a free footbath, making a stroll through the hot spring town highly recommended.
