Overview

Tsunagi Onsen is a hot spring resort located in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, nestled on the shores of Lake Gosho, a reservoir with views of Mount Iwate. Boasting a history of over 900 years, it has long been cherished as a "hidden gem" of Morioka. The name of the hot spring originates from a legend dating back to the 11th century, when the renowned warrior Minamoto no Yoshiie is said to have tethered his horse to a rock while bathing. In commemoration of this legend, the Tsunagi Onsen Shrine in the town enshrines the "tsunagiishi" (tied-up stone). The hot springs of Tsunagi Onsen are alkaline simple springs, renowned for their beautifying effects, leaving skin smooth and silky by removing surface impurities. They also contain meta-silicic acid, a recently popular natural moisturizing component, resulting in supple skin after bathing.
