Overview

Toyako Onsen is a hot spring resort town located in Toyako-cho, Abuta District, Hokkaido. Situated on the southern shore of Lake Toya and surrounded by mountains, it boasts a magnificent natural setting. The onsen water is a sodium-calcium chloride spring (neutral hypotonic hyperthermal spring), known for its effectiveness in relieving muscle pain, neuralgia, and cold sensitivity. The resort town features numerous day-on-sen facilities, ryokans (traditional Japanese inns), and hotels, offering diverse onsen experiences. Furthermore, attractions like Lake Toya sightseeing cruises, ropeways, and the Toyako Lake Gurutto Sculpture Park enhance the area's appeal. Toyako Onsen opened in 1917 (Taisho 6).
