Osorakan Snow Park, nestled on the eastern slopes of Mt. Osorakan (elevation 1,346m) on the border of Hiroshima and Shimane prefectures, was re-established in 2011 when a new company, formed by local volunteers, took over operations and unified the existing ski areas. Its greatest appeal lies in the abundant natural snow unique to Hiroshima Prefecture's highest peak and the dynamic course layout created by its 420m vertical drop.
The slopes are expertly divided into four distinct areas: "Bunasaka," "Hiebatake," "Tateyama," and "Kayabata," along with a dedicated "Family Plaza," offering a grand total of 11 unique courses. The SAJ-certified competition course, "Bunasaka Slope," features challenging steep sections for advanced skiers and serene tree runs perfect for beginners and intermediates, truly catering to a broad spectrum of abilities. "Hiebatake Slope" stands out as a signature course at Osorakan, with its formidable 1,000m continuous mogul field, boasting a maximum gradient of 38 degrees—a true test for expert thrill-seekers. The "Tateyama Slope," enhanced with state-of-the-art snowmaking machines, guarantees stable conditions throughout the season, characterized by a steep upper section transitioning into a wide, gentle lower expanse. Nestled furthest north, the "Kayabata Slope" not only offers an intense mogul course for experts but also hosts a vibrant snow park, providing various features to help riders master new tricks and enhance their skills. For our youngest guests, the "Family Plaza," conveniently located in front of the rest house, is a flat, safe haven ideal for sledding and their very first skiing or snowboarding adventures, ensuring families can revel in the joy of snow play with complete peace of mind.
From the majestic summit, on clear days, a magnificent panoramic vista stretches endlessly to the distant Sea of Japan, and you might even be fortunate enough to encounter rare frost flowers, a truly uncommon sight in Western Japan. This rich, unspoiled natural environment elevates Osorakan Snow Park beyond a mere ski resort, transforming it into a destination offering truly special and unforgettable experiences. The culinary offerings on the slopes are also a delightful highlight; the "Breakfast Set" and "Pork Rib Donburi" (rice bowl) consistently receive rave reviews from our many visitors. The "Osorakan Burger," in particular, is a beloved delicacy that can be savored even outside the main ski season. Revered as the historic birthplace of skiing for residents of Hiroshima Prefecture, this cherished resort has been a favorite for generations. We warmly invite you to immerse yourself in the exhilarating winter sports and breathtaking natural beauty that Osorakan has to offer.
