Snow Park Oze Tokura, which opened in 1962 as the Oze Workers' Holiday Center, is a historic ski resort that has long been cherished by many as the earliest-established resort in the Oze/Numata area. It has consistently adapted to new styles, including being an early adopter of allowing full snowboarding access on all slopes. Its greatest appeal lies in its exceptionally light powder snow, considered among the best in Japan, and its uniquely designed terrain parks that cleverly utilize natural undulations.
From challenging courses for advanced riders like the Dynamic Course, Arayama Course, and former Half-Pipe area, to dedicated lesson slopes for beginners, skiers and snowboarders of all levels can find their ideal way to enjoy the slopes. The particularly noteworthy independent beginner's course allows for focused practice without worrying about others, making it perfect for first-time skiers and snowboarders.
Furthermore, the resort offers high-quality lessons, including a ski academy led by Mr. Naoki Yuasa, a former world-class skier, and the JSBA-certified Mg Snowboard School. Unique services are also available, such as guided off-piste powder tours that don't require hiking up, and the "National Park Oze Cat Tour," which takes guests on a snowcat through the stunning winter landscape of Oze, offering special experiences found only here. Access from Numata IC has also become much smoother since the opening of the Shiizaka Tunnel in 2013, significantly reducing concerns about steep slopes or icy roads. Beyond the ski season, it transforms into a popular hidden gem, serving as a campground during the fresh green season, allowing visitors to enjoy nature throughout the year.
