Since its opening in 1978, Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort, also known as "Jozankei Kogen Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort," has continuously attracted numerous skiers and snowboarders from both within and outside Hokkaido, based on its concept as an urban day-trip ski resort. The "Marchen Bell," created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Sapporo Clock Tower's completion, is beloved as its symbolic landmark.
Here, a total of 7 courses are available, including the Marchen Course spanning up to 3.6 km, the Echo Course where you can enjoy high-quality powder snow near the summit, and the dynamic Downhill Course with a maximum gradient of 30 degrees. The Family Course, over 100 meters wide, provides a safe and enjoyable experience for families. Furthermore, efforts to enhance user convenience and satisfaction are ongoing, such as the introduction of an automatic gate system and the establishment of a new summit cafe, "Kakkou."
Another notable feature is the extended operating season, allowing skiing until the Golden Week holidays in spring. Although it depends on snow conditions, you can typically ski until early May, enabling you to enjoy skiing and snowboarding throughout a long season. Comprehensive rental services are also available, making it easy to hit the slopes immediately even if you arrive empty-handed – a secret to its popularity. Moreover, within the ski center adjacent to the slopes, there are various dining options such as Pizza & Pasta Woodpecker, Family Restaurant Rabbit, Western Restaurant Squirrel, Ramen specialty store Owl, and Cafe Elm, so you don't have to worry about breaks or meals. Powder rooms and free Wi-Fi spots are also fully equipped, ensuring a comfortable day. In autumn, the autumn foliage gondola operates, and the "Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort Autumn Festival" is held, allowing visitors to enjoy the green season as well.
