"Naramachi Koshi-no-Ie" is a facility that recreates a traditional Nara Machiya townhouse, modeled after those scattered throughout "Naramachi" from the late Edo period to the Meiji era. The long and narrow houses, with a small frontage and deep depth, are sometimes described as resembling an eel's sleeping place. Its charm lies not only in the beauty of its latticework but also in offering a glimpse into the lifestyles of the past. Inside the lattice house, exhibits recreate the daily life of that time, allowing visitors to imagine what life was like then. On the second floor, there are rooms where families once slept and a tea room, offering a more detailed look at life in those days. The lattice house also has a souvenir shop selling traditional Nara crafts and local products.
