Zuiryuen Garden

Overview

Zuiryuen Garden is a Japanese garden located in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, and is designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty by the nation. Its style is Oishi Bugakuryu, originating from the villa garden of the wealthy Taima family during the Hirosaki feudal domain era. It was later developed by Takahashi Teizan, a leading gardener of the Oishi Bugakuryu school, and completed in 1936. Within the garden, you can see the characteristic features of the Oishi Bugakuryu style, such as stepping stones, dry ponds, and dry waterfalls, as well as enjoy the beautiful scenery that changes with each season. Spring offers cherry blossoms, summer lush greenery, autumn vibrant foliage, and winter a stunning snowscape—offering a diverse experience throughout the year. The garden also features a teahouse and rest areas for a relaxing break. It's a highly recommended garden where you can savor the beauty of the changing seasons while experiencing a sense of history.
