Manshuin Monzeki

Overview

Manshuin Monzeki is an ancient temple founded in the 8th century. One of Kyoto's most prestigious Monzeki temples (temples where the head priest is a member of the imperial family), it once served as a residence for Imperial family members. The current buildings date back to the Edo period, and the Shoin (study) and gardens are designated as Important Cultural Properties. The Shoin, in particular, showcases exquisite examples of Sukiya-zukuri architectural style, captivating visitors with its beauty.
