Yurinsou

Overview

Yurinsou is a Western-style building constructed during the Meiji period by the industrialist Magosaburo Ohara, a key figure in Japan's modernization who founded Kurashiki Spinning Company. Yurinsou, built as his villa, offers a beautiful space where a Western-style building and Japanese garden blend seamlessly. The Western-style building boasts a stately structure incorporating the architectural styles of the time. The interior preserves the furniture and furnishings used by Magosaburo, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of that era. The stained glass in the reception room is particularly exquisite. Adjacent to the Western-style building, the garden utilizes natural beauty with a pond, waterfall, and rock formations. A riot of flowers blooms throughout the year, providing beautiful scenery. From cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy landscapes in winter, the garden captivates visitors with its diverse seasonal expressions.
